large-10ksb-logo.jpgGoldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses is a corporate responsibility initiative to help entrepreneurs create jobs and economic opportunity by providing greater access to education, capital and business support services. With 33 sites across the United States and United Kingdom, the program has served over 8,000 small business owners. Their goal is to service 10,000 across all 50 states. The program has resulted in immediate and sustained business growth for its alumni.

Following a rigorous vetting process, BCX was chosen to participate in the program's regional cohort as a clean-tech firm with significant growth potential in 2 sectors; Air Quality Consulting/Testing and Solar Energy Generation. Keith Boivin, company co-founder, is the BCX representative to the program. He attends classes twice per week (Thursday/Friday or Friday/Saturday), 10 hours per day. The program began in April and concludes at the end of August.

Keith says, “Right out of college I went to work as an engineer at Texas Instruments (TI). Innovators like TI are BIG on training. When I left TI to help start BCX, I missed that big picture, strategic training they provided. Now that we’re part of this Goldman Sachs program, I feel energized. It’s like a mini-MBA. We’re already beginning to see its positive effects at BCX.”

The 10k Small Businesses is designed and is co-delivered by Babson College (at no cost to participants), the national leader in entrepreneurship education. Participants' business growth is seen within 6 months from graduation and notably businesses are still growing 18 – 30 months after having completed the program.
